Kurt Liljeberg, DVM

As a founding member of TPSG with over 20 years of private and corporate veterinary practice experience, Kurt Liljeberg, DVM, has the business insight needed to make a practice flourish – and that includes the first-hand knowledge needed to orchestrate a productive practice sale. A levelheaded knowledge of the marketplace and solid business skills are vital to selling a practice in today’s economy.

Born & raised in northern Ohio, Dr. Liljeberg is a graduate of The Ohio State University where, in addition to receiving his doctorate in veterinary medicine, he also completed many courses in business and finance.

Dr. Liljeberg and his partner owned two practices in the Cleveland area from 1982 to 1996. From 1996 to 2000, he served as chief of staff for a large corporate practice with five locations in the Charlotte, North Carolina area. His duties there included identifying and enhancing profit centers, and teaching financial analysis to associate veterinarians. From 2001 to 2003, Dr. Liljeberg owned and operated two veterinary practices in the state of Washington. Following these business ventures, Dr. Liljeberg pursued a career as a national business and transition consultant in the Great Lakes Area.

In addition to his extensive training in areas of veterinary profitability analysis, marketing, and advertising, Dr. Liljeberg’s areas of expertise for the sales and acquisitions of veterinary practices include:

  • Certified veterinary practice valuations
  • Facilitating negotiations with attorneys and accountants for smooth transitions
  • Identifying financing for veterinary practice sales
  • Structuring veterinary associate buy-ins
  • Arranging document preparation

Dr. Liljeberg has been featured in such national publications as DVM Magazine for his experience and insight of sales trends for veterinary practice sales and associate buy-ins. In addition, Dr. Liljeberg has lectured on practice valuation and sales at the state and national level.

He has studied under the auspices of the International Business Brokers Association and is a candidate for certified business intermediary. Dr. Liljeberg was trained as a business valuator by the Institute of Business Appraisers (IBA) and is a transition consultant in Vet Partners. Kurt is also very active in the VetPartners Veterinary Valuation Resource Council.

Dr. Liljeberg holds real estate Broker licenses for multiple states in the Great Lakes region. Past President of SBB Practice Sales and the veterinary Practice Sales Group.

Dr. Liljeberg is a member of:
